It goes well with Pongal, moong dal rice, moong dal khichdi, samosa, Idli, dosa etc. Without the seasoning, it can be used as a spread for sandwich also mix with hot steamed rice .   1. Heat the pan with oil. When the oil hot add whole asafetida .Fry it for few minutes until it will get puffed like a ball and gets lighter in weight then remove it from the pan.

  2. Now add urad dal ,fry it in medium flame until turns golden brown color then transfer to the plate.

  3. Again add little oil add onion , Garlic  & Ginger. Sauté till it turns transparent.

  4. Now add Red chilies & green chilies. Sauté another few minutes.

  5. Add Mint leaves and Coriander leaves , Sauté until it wilts.

  6. Add grated coconut and Turn off the heat , Sauté the coconut for 2-3 minutes in the heat of the pan.

  7. Now  add  tamarind mix it well ,Leave it to cool.

  8. In a blender jar first add sauté onion coconut mix with asafetida . Blend coarse  using little water.

  9. Now add required salt & fried urad dal. Grind everything together with little water.

  10. Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds, when mustard splutters, add urad dal, when dal turns golden brown, add red chilis & curry leaves then pour the seasoning over the chutney.

  11. Yummy & Tasty Chutney is ready to serve.

Note

  • Instead of urad dal you can use chana dal too.
  • With out coconut also we can prepare this chutney.
  • Instead of whole asafetida we can use powder one ,but that one add while seasoning. 
  • Instead of small onion add big onion too.
