A healthy breakfast recipe to boost up your energy. it is also serve for evening snack or early dinner. Ragi, we usually prepare ragi dosa, Adai and kanji. Ragi has more health benefits, that is rich in protein, natural weight loss agent, prevents your skin from ageing, Ragi is good for your hair, has loads of Calcium, increases production of mother’s milk, prevents Diabetes, good for digestion. we have to do keep on variations in our cooking to make kids to eat this kind of healthy food.

Ragi kara kozhukattai Recipe / Finger Millet dumplings

Ingredients

How to make Ragi Kara Kolukattai Recipe

  1. Take home made or store bought ragi flour.

  2. Dry roast the ragi flour in medium flame for about 4-5 minutes until become aromatic.

  3. Soak whole urad dal about 1 hr.

  4. Strain water completely and add in mixie jar and green chillies.

  5. Grind in pulses to make too coarse mixture without any water.

  6. To seasoning heat the pan with oil.

  7. Add mustard seeds, split urad dal and chana dal and allow it to splutters.

  8. Add Asafoetida and toss well.

  9. Add chopped onion and green chilli sauté until onion turns transparent.

  10.  Now add chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves.

  11. Add grated coconut.

  12. Pour water (ragi: water ratio is 1:1).

  13. Add required salt and urad dal, chilli coarse mixture.

  14. Mix well and allow to boil.

  15. Switch off the flame. Now add roasted ragi flour mix well in the heat of the pan.

  16. After mix together the ragi flour well combined with other ingredients.

  17. Take small ball sized ragi dough and press gently between the palm.

  18. Now go for steam cooking, once water start boiling then place the Kolukattai.

  19. Cover and steam cook for 5 minutes in medium flame.

  20. Healthy and tasty Ragi spicy Kolukattai is ready to serve.

Note

  • you can use home made or store-bought ragi flour.
  • care should be taken while adding water. (1:1 ratio)
  • with minimum variations we can prepare Ragi sweet dumplings with this same recipe.
