Wheat dosa is a quick and easy dosa variety made with whole wheat flour, rava, onions, herbs and spices. It is also called as Godhuma Dosa or Atta Dosa. There are many variations of making this wheat flour dosa.  A healthy instant dosa variety made from wheat flour or atta ideal for early morning breakfast or even for tiffin box. unlike the other traditional idli/ dosa, atta dosa does not require fermentation and batter can be prepared within minutes. wheat dosa can be prepared in various ways. The variation includes with its consistency of dosa batter and also the ingredients added to the batter. The authentic wheat dosa is typically prepared with only wheat flour and is not adulterated with other flours. however, the popular and instant wheat dosa recipe is prepared with rava / semolina to make crispy dosa. This dish is very easy to prepare. You simply need to mix all the ingredients and let the batter sit or rest for 10 minutes. Later you can make the dosas on a hot skillet or seasoned tawa. There is absolutely no need to ferment the batter. This is best part of this recipe. Always add the herbs and spices in the batter. This way the godhumai dosa tastes better than the plain ones. These dosa have to be served hot. You can serve wheat dosa with any chutney. The leftover batter can be refrigerated for maximum one day.

It is very healthy because it has all the benefits of wheat. These dosas are a little thick and soft. For a thin and crisp dosa a little rice flour should be added. These are quick and easy to make and high in nutrition for all age groups-from growing kids to aged elders and also for diabetics.

If no idli batter available, and this wheat adai / dosa will be easiest option for quick dinner or breakfast. If you make crispier version of these dosa kids also will like to have.

  1. To prepare wheat dosa batter, in a mixie jar add green chillies.

  2. Add chopped ginger.

  3. Grind them to make rough coarse mix.

  4. Add salt to this batter.

  5. Add homemade or store-bought wheat flour.

  6. Add butter milk and water.

  7. Grind them all to make dosa batter consistency.

  8. Add rava / sooji.

  9. Keep aside for 10-15 minutes.

  10. To tempering the wheat dosa batter, heat oil in a pan.

  11. Add chopped onion and add salt to this onion.

  12. Add turmeric powder and cumin seeds.

  13. Add chopped tomato without seeds and curry leaves.

  14. Sauté in medium flame for 1-2 minutes.

  15. Add chopped coriander leaves.

  16. Add grated coconut.

  17. Keep aside and allow to cool down.

  18. Add sauteed onion and coconut mix and mix well.

  19. Add asafoetida powder.

  20. Ada dosa batter is now ready.

  21. Prepare adai dosa in hot dosa tawa.

  22. Sprinkle oil.

  23. Cook in medium flame flip once bottom side cooked well.

  24. Once dosa reach golden brown take it out from tawa.

  25. Instant tasty wheat dosa is now ready for serving.
