Bonda are fried dumplings made with flour, and spices. They are crispy outside and spongy inside.
This mini bonda recipe is very simple and quick to prepare for any party or snack for tea time. Serve them with coconut chutney.
It can made with sliced vegetables with besan or corn flour batter coating and deep-fried till crisp. Often we prepare bonda with Urad dal and Maida it could be the some easiest version. And also because of this small ball shaped, kids will love to eat. Here we go for step by step procedure for spicy flavored Mini Bonda.

How to make mini bonda recipe

  1. Take fermented Idli/ Dosa batter in a wide bowl.

  2. To prepare a spicy masala paste, add Garlic and  Red chilies (Chilies are soaked in hot water  for 10 mins to grind fine paste)

  3. Add garlic-Chili paste in to Idli/Dosa batter and mix it well.

  4. To prepare the bonda batter consistency, add required rice flour and sooji/rava and mix well.

  5. Rest for 5-10 mins.

  6.  Heat the pan with oil, add mustard seeds. once start splutters add chopped small onions.

  7. sauté for about 2 mins. then add them in to bonda batter.

  8. mix well. check the required consistency of bonda batter.

  9. Heat the pan with oil for frying.

  10. Grease your hand with water and take small ball sized batter and make a small ball and drop it in the hot oil. Fry in the  medium flame.

  11.  cook it from both sides until golden brown and crispy.

  12. Yummy garlic flavored spicy bonda is ready to much.

Note

  • To get the ball-sized dumplings, you need to have medium thickness batter, it should not be either thin or thick, if it is too thin it may absorb more oil (adjust consistency with rice flour and rava).
  • you can mix grated carrots, cabbage too.
  • Do not use freshly prepared Idli batter.
  • Do not sauté onion into translucent, the crunchy texture of onion will add up the taste of Bonda.
