Lima beans curry is a simple, easy curry with onion, spice powders and tomatoes.  We can use frozen beans or soaked dry lima beans; curry is ready in under 30 minutes.  A quick main or side for busy weekdays and lazy weekends.  Serve with rice, idli, dosa, chapati etc. It is a versatile legume and can use in many forms. Adjust water level depends upon to which main dish you want to use. If for rice means like little watery and we can have for evening snack, if it is dry format. Lima beans are very healthy and we can use at least twice a week. Beans are packed with protein, fiber, and other nutrients, making them a superfood. Lima beans are an especially good source of iron. One cup of lima beans contains roughly one quarter of your daily recommended iron. it’s important to keep them away from children and to make sure that, when you are cooking them, you’re doing it properly. Legumes (beans) are an excellent example of foods that promote liver health and are also great for your heart. As with most beans, lima beans are an excellent source of fiber and a good source of protein, but they also pack a bonus for people who want to lower blood pressure: They’re higher in potassium than some of their counterparts, making them a good choice for a diet for high blood pressure.

How to make watch mochai masala / lima beans curry recipe

  1. Take dry lima beans / dry mochai wash and soak for about8 hrs.

  2. Decant the soaked water, transfer-soaked lima beans with fresh water in to pressure pan.

  3. Pressure cooks in medium flame for 4-5 whistles.

  4. Allow to release pressure naturally and open the lid.

  5. Look, the beans cooked properly not to mushy.

  6. Drain the cooked water with strainer.

  7. To prepare mochai masala heat oil.

  8. To tempering add cinnamon stick, bay leaves and fennel seeds and sauté till aromatic.

  9. Add chopped small onions and curry leaves sauté till onion become translucent.

  10. Add spoonful of ginger garlic paste and sauté till raw smell leaves.

  11. Add crushed green chillies and sauté well.

  12. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and coriander powder mix well, cook till raw smell leaves.

  13. Add garam flour and sauté for 2-3 minutes till turn aromatic.

  14. To this add cooked lima beans without any water.

  15. Mix well till all beans coated well with masala.

  16. Add chopped tomatoes and mix for 2-3 minutes.

  17. Add salt to this masala and mix.

  18. Add adequate water for the masala.

  19. Cook covered for 10 minutes in medium flame and do occasional stirring.

  20. Masala gravy get thickened and oil start separates.

  21. Now add garam masala powder and mix well.

  22. Add grated fresh coconut and cook for another 2-3 minutes.

  23. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

  24. Tasty lima beans masala is ready for serving.
