Milagai killi potta sambar / sambar with chillies just means sambar made with broken chillies and little sambar powder used in this recipe. The heat and spice come only from the chillies and is a very diverse and light sambar. It goes well with rice and idli/dosa. This is one of the easy and simple sambars which can be made within few minutes. This is easy to prepare because we do not add any vegetables and so no need for cutting and waiting for the veggies to be cooked. This sambar tastes good than the usual sambar. Usually, many people prepare this with only red chillies and some green chillies, but we feel to add on slightly more spice so, I use little sambar powder, do not add more than the mentioned quantity otherwise it’ll taste like usual sambar and it’ll mask red chili’s flavor. So be generous with the chillies as the chilli flavour has to be predominant in this sambar. In this sambar I added cooked toor dal for this pressure cook it for 5 whistles, remove from heat and set aside to cool. Let the pressure release naturally. Then open the cooker and mash the dal. Mashing is important as the dal becomes creamy consistency.  During lazy days, you can make this Sambar. It goes well with simple potato fry. In my home we usually prepare this for no moon day, in that my amma do not add any sambar powder and add ash gourd, for add on taste. Try this once you never feel lazy to cut ash gourd. having with hot steam rice with top of little ghee and potato masala and pappad. tongue licking taste.
