Radish Chutney is a south indian style side dish that is freshly ground roasted radish along with roasted spices and lentils. It is a very simple recipe prepared using raw radish, coconut, dal , onion ,tomato and some minimum spices. This chutney is serve with Idli ,dosa & chapati. Also The Mullangi Thogayal is a spicy chutney that tastes great when mixed with rice and ghee.

Radish is a high fiber root vegetable. Regular intake of radish help one remain younger and healthier. It protects us from seasonal cold and cough that is prevalent in this monsoon season.

Description

Radish chutney is a very simple recipe prepared using raw radish, coconut, and some minimum spices. This tastes very good with rice and healthy too.

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Heat the pan with 1/2 tsp oil . Then add urad dal & chana dal.

  2. Roast the dal in medium flame until turns light golden color. Then add red chilies roast for few minutes .

  3. Later grind it now keep aside.

  4. In the same pan add little oil . Add whole asafetida , Roast for few minutes. Then add onion & garlic . Sauté the onion until cook well.

  5. Now add chopped radish / Mullangi . Sauté in medium flame until radish cook well .while sauté add required salt.

  6. Now  add tomato & tamarind , Sauté in medium flame until tomato cook well & mushy. 

  7. Now add grated coconut, sauté for few minutes . 

  8. Keep the mixture until cool it down.

  9. Once it cool down transfer it to a blender, grind to a coarse paste or fine paste .

  10. For tempering heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when they splutter, add urad dal ,red chili & curry leaves. Then transfer the prepared tempering on top of chutney.

  11. Delicious Radish Chutney is now ready to serve.

Note

  • Instead of whole asafetida we can use asafetida powder too.
  • We can use any red or white radish for this chutney.
