Wheat dosa is a quick and easy dosa variety made with whole wheat flour, onions and spices. This wheat dosa is healthy dosa, replaces the high glycemic index rice with whole wheat flour, it’s diabetic friendly. There are many variations of making this wheat flour dosa. If you feel bore to prepare batter and don’t want to stand long time in the kitchen then this is the instant choice. This dosa is very easy to prepare. You simply need to mix all the ingredients and let the batter rest for 15 minutes. Although it’s an instant dosa recipe, it requires more time to cook than regular dosa. After pouring the dosa over hot tawa, cook in medium flame for long time in the meantime the top also gets cooked. In batter resting time you can prepare any chutney of your choice. Wheat dosa can go with simple coconut chutney also.

Heat oil in a pan, add jeera after few seconds add green chili and chopped onion.

Sauté for 2-3 mins then add salt for onion.

Add grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves. stir well. Switch off the flame, it’ll cook in heat of the pan itself.

Take a whole wheat flour in a pan.

Add little fermented idli / dosa batter for good taste.

Add stir-fried onion, chili, coconut, coriander leaves mixture. Add salt and mix it well.

Pour required amount of water to make correct consistency. (Not too watery or not too thick).

Rest for 10mins.

To prepare dosa, heat the tawa, sprinkle water on it and wipe it off. It’ll help to avoid dosa stick on tawa.

Pour the batter on medium flame spread dosa as thin not to crispy.

On low to medium flame, cook the wheat dosa. Pour little oil/ ghee over the dosa.

wheat dosa takes longer time to cook than regular dosa so be patient during this stage. cook till the base is golden and flip to other side of the dosa and wait for the same.

Take from tawa and hot Wheat dosa is ready to serve.
Note
- you can add buttermilk instead of idli/dosa batter.
- If you want crispy wheat dosa add little rice flour.
- If you don’t have enough time to prepare, crush the jeera and little pepper, add curry leaves and mix to the flour.
- Dosa tawa play a major role in perfection, make sure the tawa is hot while pouring, then turned in to low-medium flam.
- If the batter is too watery add wheat flour to make correct consistency.
- If we try to take out the dosa before it gets cooked, it will be difficult to take out. So, wait for a while.
